Bertrand Advances to World U-20 Semis

National junior sprinter Leah Bertrand has qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 100m at the World Athletics U20 Championships which will take place later today.

Bertrand, running in heat 5 earlier this morning, finished second in a time of 11.88 seconds to automatically qualify for the semi-finals. She will compete at 9:24am today (Wednesday) in semi-final three as she will be seeking a spot in the final 8.

The top two in each heat plus the next two fastest times advance to the final which is carded for tomorrow. On Wednesday, fellow Trinbagonian Shakeem Mc Kay will also sprint into action in the men's 200m heats at 4amTT time.
