Pollard, Ramdin Rescue TKR

Trinbago Knight Riders won their first game of the 2021 Hero Caribbean Premier League, earlier tonight vs the Barbados Royals at Warner Park, St Kitts and Nevis.

The Royals won the toss and decided to bat first, a decision that they would later rue, as they were dismissed for a modest 122. Azam Khan top scored with thirty for the Royals.Sri Lankan seemer Isuru Udana had brilliant figures of 5 for 21 and was supported by veteran speedster Ravi Rampaul (2 for 13 in 3.2) and youngster Akeal Hosein (1 for 14 in 4).


TRK started their reply and were in early trouble losing Sunil Narine (0), Lendl Simmons (4) and Collin Munroe (8) all to Pakistani Mohammed Amir (3/21). THe Knight Riders were in further trouble when Tim Seifert (15) was sent packing. With The defending champions reeling at 38 for 4, talismanic captain Kieron Pollard joined wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin and together the pair shared in an unbroken 5th wicket partnership of 85, with the skipper hitting a blissful 58 from 30 balls with 6 maximums all while surpassing 2000 CPL runs. Ramdin also crossed a milestone with his 29, reaching 1500 CPL runs. In the end TRK won the game by 6 wickets with 19 balls remaining.

The man of the match award went to Isuru Udana.
