Ramdial stars as Republic Bank Stars win big on opening day of the Fiesta Basketball League
Updated: Jan 16
Playing against Digicel Wildcats, Carissa Ramdial opened Stars’ scoring with her favourite shots; two back to back 3-pointers to get the noisy crowd going at the Eastern Regional Complex in Tacarigua. At the end of the first half, Ramdial finished as top scorer with 17 points as her team led the way 20-8 at the break.

The Enterprise youth was not only a standout on the offensive end but also played great defence and she had quite a few steals to show for her defensive effort.
In the second half, it was all Ramdial again and she opened in the same manner as the first, a flush three, scoring 9 of her team’s second half 15 points. Wildcats’ Jills Briggs gave it a fight though, scoring 19 of her team’s 22 points but in the end, Ramdial and Company was too much the away team as they won the game 35-22.

Game two of the 3-game opener between Sunshine Warriors and Milo Vipers was a much more entertaining and closely contested affair as Warriors won the game 28-26. Warriors’ Ayjah Brown led the way as she scored half of her team’s points (14) followed by Guard Ty Warwick who had seven points. With just a few minutes left in the game, Vipers took charge and led by as many as five but the Warriors dug deep to overcome the late-game deficit to win by two points.
