Simmons, Hosein and Rampaul’s Masterclass Seal TKR Win

The Trinbago Knight Riders earlier tonight defeated the Jamaica Tallawahs by 7 wickets thanks to a brilliant 70 by Lendl "Platter" Simmons and a bowling masterclass by TKR’s opening bowlers.

Batting first, the JT got off to the worst possible start thanks to Akeal Hosein (2/12) and veteran speedster Ravi Rampaul (2/26) who wreaked havoc on their top order reducing them to 15/5 in the powerplay. It was Carlos Brathwaite (58) and Imad Wasim (42) who brought some respectability to their total of 144/7 thanks to their 83 run stand.

Simmons then immediately got to work dispatching the Tallawahs’ bowling attack to all parts of Warner Park. In all, he struck 5 sixes and 5 boundaries in an entertaining 45-ball knock. He was well supported by Collin Munroe run-a-ball 34 to secure a third victory for TKR and maintain their playoff position. TKR now sits 3rd on the six team table.

Simmons’ knock earned him the Man of The Match award.
