Soca Warriors Get Bolivia Friendly

After several months of inactivity, the Trinidad And Tobago Senior Men’s team has secured an international Friendly against 77th ranked Bolivia. Head Coach Angus Eve would be without the services of his European and other foreign-based players as the friendly, which is carded for January 22nd, falls outside the FIFA International window.

“It’s really good to be back on the pitch, you can see the enthusiasm of the players... everyone that we called out today was present ” said Eve. The team has not been actively training since at the end of October last year and while Eve admits that the friendly may be a bit too soon, he also lamented that the opportunity is a useful one. “It probably coming a bit too early for us because we haven’t been playing football but it’s an opportunity we have to take to give the players a bit of experience.” The Angus Eve-led squad was unable to capitalize on its good showing and momentum from the 2020 Gold Cup as they missed the last three international windows because the FA was unable to secure any international friendlies but 2022 was started off on the right foot as Eve confirmed that the FA assured him that games would be played in every FIFA Window this year.

Bolivia though, would not be an easy task as they have been rolling lately and has secured four wins its last five games. In their last five games, they have defeated Uruguay (3-0), Peru (1-0), Paraguay (4-0) and El Salvador (1-0). Trinidad and Tobago men will use this friendly as preparation for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League later this year.
