T&T Hockey Women Draw with Paraguay

Trinidad and Tobago hockey women drew 2-2 with Paraguay just after midday on Tuesday as they continue their World Cup Qualifying Campaign at the PanAm Challenge in Peru. On Sunday, T&T won their opener against Peru courtesy a last minute winner by Briana Govia. Today’s game was no different as Trinidad and Tobago needed a final minute goal to earn the draw.

Brittney Hingh opened the game’s scoring in the 41st minute but Paraguay responded quickly in the 45th and eventually took the lead in the 54th. It seemed as though the Paraguayans would hold on for the three points but Zene Henry had another plan when she scored the 60th minute equalizer.

Tomorrow, T&T, who sits on four points in second place on the four-team table, will face Brazil in the final round robin game at 1pm. At the end of round robin play, the first placed team will play the fourth placed while third and second will play each other in semi-final one and two. The two finalists will qualify for the PanAm Cup in January.
