T&T Women defeat Dominica 2-0
Updated: Feb 20, 2022

T&T gets another valuable three points after defeating Dominica 2-0 in Concacaf World Cup Qualifying action on Sunday afternoon.
Playing in Group F, T&T had two changes to its starting lineup as Kedie Johnson who was red carded in the last game vs Nicaragua and Maria Frances-Serrant were replaced by Shani Nahkid-Schuster and Dennecia Prince, respectively.
Midfielder Asha James continued her goalscoring form after scoring the first goal of the evening in the 31st minute to give T&T a 1-0 lead. James slotted home from close range after a teasing cross by right back Liana Hinds. While T&T’s approach was more direct, Dominica enjoyed greater possession in the first forty-five minutes even though they weren’t rewarded for it. Six minutes after taking the lead, Kenwyne Jones lost his striker Dennecia Prince after she seemed to suffer a knee injury and was subsequently replaced by the spritey Maria Serrant.
After the break, T&T created more opportunities in front Dominica’s goal but was only rewarded for one - when substitute Serrant doubled the lead in the 58th minute after a breakthrough pass by Hinds for her second assist of the night. That would be the final goal of the evening.
After this evening’s victory, T&T remains second on the table with six points, same as Guyana, but the latter is on top by virtue of goal difference. The women will go back to the drawing board as they prepare for the next round in April against Turks and Caicos and Guyana. Only the winner of the group advances to the next round.
