TKR Lose Thriller Vs GAW

Trinibago Knight Riders’ dismal start to CPL ‘21 continued as they lost a thriller versus Guyana Amazon Warriors in a super over at Warner Park.

Batting first, the Knight Riders made a paltry 138 for 9 with New Zealander Colin Munroe top scoring with 32. Isuru Udana and Sunil Narine both chipped in with 21 along with Tion Webster 19. Romario Shepard and Mohammed Hafeez had 3 wickets each.

In GAW’s turn at the wicket, they had the identical score of 138 for 9, with Ravi Rampaul again showing his worth with figures of 4 for 29 while brilliantly being supported by mystery spinner Sunil Narine (2 for 9). With GAW needing 8 runs in the final over, Pollard decided to give the ball to youngster Akeal Hosein, who had a brilliant over. He removed Romario Shepard in the second ball and managed to restrict GAW to just 7 runs, meaning a super over would decide the contest.

GAW had first strick in the super over. Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer took the responsibility while Sunil Narine was given the task to bowl the super over. In the end GAW could only muster 6 losing both openers in the process.

It was now TRK’s turn who opened with Pollard and Munroe, while Romario Shepard bowled the over. Pollard was dismissed first ball going for a maximum while Tim Seifert and Munroe could only manage 4 runs off their 6 deliveries giving the GAW victory.

After going undefeated in 2020, TKR have now lost three off their five matches and sit third on the table behind St Kitts Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs.

Romario Shepard was judged man of the match.
