TKR Stumble in CPL Opener
The Trinbago Knight Riders got off to a losing start in the opening match of the 2021 edition of the Hero Caribbean Premier League, at Warner Park on Thursday morning.

Playing against the bridesmaid of the competition, TKR won the toss and inserted the Guyana Amazon Warriors to have the first strike. GAW made a score of 142 for 7 with Shimron Hetmyer top-scoring with 54. Sunil Narine and Akeal Hosein had exact figures of 2 for 17 in 4 overs and were the TKR’s best performers with the ball.
TKR, in reality, were never in the run chase losing critical wickets at important intervals. Lendl Simmons (5), Collin Munroe (13), Darren Bravo (3) Kieron Pollard (2) which represents the bulk of TKR batting, all fell cheaply. In the end, TKR stumbled to 133 for 9, losing by 9 runs.
Odean Smith was the chief destroyer for the warriors with 3 for 10 and Trinbagonian and GAW’s captain Nicholas Pooran has come out victorious against friend and countryman Kieron Pollard.
